iPad 2 Battery Maintenance
Just pay attention and follow some common-sense guidelines, you can extend your iPad 2 battery life. The most important thing is to avoid placing iPad 2 in the sun or heated car. Heat is most likely to reduce the performance of battery.
Terminology you need to understand. "Battery" means iPad battery must be charged before use in time. "Battery life" means the battery may need to be replaced in full before the use of time. "Battery life" refers to the time cycle iPad charge and recharge on the basis of 80% initial capacity. In the previous article, we have talled about some iPhone user experiences, and today we will talk about how to extend iPad 2 battery life, i.e. iPad 2 battery maintenance.
Upgrade to the latest software
Please make sure that your iPad has the latest software now and then. Apple engineers may have developed new ways to optimize battery performance. Using iTunes 9.1 or later, you can upgrade to the latest software for iPad. Connect iPad 2 to your computer, and then in the Source list, select the iPad. In the Summary panel, click "Check for updates" to see if there is software available to update for iPad. Click "Update" button to install the latest version.
Battery Charging Tips
To charge iPad 2 with fastest speed, you need to use the built-in 10W USB power adapter. If the iPad 2 is plugged into the computer's high-power USB port, or use the iPhone power adapter for iPad charging, the charging can be realised, but the speed will be much slower. If iPad is plugged into the computer's standard USB port, iPad can only be charged in sleep mode. When using the USB to charge iPad, you should make sure your computer is running. If the iPad is connected to computer that is turned off, sleep or standby, iPad battery may exhaust.
Let it Breathe
If you don't take off iPad 2 cover when you are charging, it will generate too much heat, thus lower the battery capacity. If you find the temperature is too high when charging iPad, you need to first remove its cover.
Adjust Brightness
The best way to extend iPad 2 battery life is to manage screen brightness. By default, your iPad will turned on "Auto Brightness". "Auto Brightness" will adjust iPad screen brightness according to ambient lighting conditions; you can reduce the brightness in low light conditions to help you extend battery life. You can also adjust the brightness by yourself. Go to "Settings"> "Brightness and wallpaper", and then drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness.
Manage Apps that Have Already Downloaded
The iPad 2 battery life will shorten if you use applications that cannot darken the screen, e.g. games, or some location services.
Turn Off Push Notifications
Some applications from the App Store using Apple push notification service to inform users to receive new data. A large number of applications that rely on push notifications (for example, instant messaging applications) may shorten battery life. To turn off push notifications, go to "Settings"> "notice", then "notice" to "off." You need to notice that this does not prevent the application from receiving data when it is opened. In addition, if you have not installed any applications that support push notifications, notification settings will not be displayed.
Regularly Use the iPad 2
To maintain proper battery charge status, please ensure that it go through at least one charge cycle in a month(the battery is fully charged before the battery completely run).
