How to Put Audiobooks on iPad for Free?

In Yahoo! Answer and Apple discussion forum, many users raised questions like:

"I was considering buying an audio book for a long trip I am taking. I am not really computer savy..especially when it comes to my iPod, I usually let my 16 year old do it for me, but she doesn't know either. Can you put audiobooks on iPad?"

Many people have discovered the pleasures of listening to audiobooks and other spoken-work content while they commute, jog or work out. Audiobooks are simply recordings of books, either complete or abridged, that are read out loud and recorded. If you purchase audiobooks on CD, you can import them into iTunes and listen to them on your iPod like any other type of digital audio. You may learn from the guide below.

Guide: How to Listen to Audiobooks on iPod?

Step 1. Open iTunes and insert the first disc of your audio book into your computer's disk drive. It should show up in your iTunes window. If it doesn't, click and drag the CD's icon to your iTunes window; that should automatically start the copying process.

Step 2. Click the "Import" button on the iTunes window if the CD doesn't copy automatically (the button should be in the lower right corner). That will copy the audio book disc onto iTunes.

Step 3. Label each of the newly-created files. In some cases, the software will do it for you, but not always. It's very important to label each new file in the order it appears on the CD.

Step 4. Click "New Playlist" in the Files menu, then place all of the audio book's files into a single playlist. Double-check the play order of the files one last time to ensure they're in the right order.

Step 5. Connect the iPod to the computer using the connecting cable, then click on the iPod symbol when it appears in the iTunes windows. Press the "Sync" button in the lower right corner of the screen.

Note: For audio books purchased directly through iTunes, you can ignore Steps 1 through 3. Once you download the book from the online store, it will appear in your iTunes folder and you can proceed from there.

Now you can wait until iTunes tells you that the sync is complete, then disconnect the iPod and check to see that the audio book is on the hard drive. You can then play the audio book as you wish.
